Tayler Nicole Garza, age 22 of Prescott, WI, passed away tragically as a result of an automobile accident on April 4, 2021.  A beautiful and beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, girlfriend, niece, cousin and friend. Tayler was born October 10, 1998 in Maplewood, MN to Brandon and Kristen (Barstow) Garza.  She graduated from Prescott High School, with the Class of 2017.  After high school, Tayler attended the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point for a year.  She was currently attending Chippewa Valley Technical College pursing a degree in nursing.  Always a hard worker, Tayler worked as the Team Lead at the Woodbury Target.  She also worked as a bartender at Vino in the Valley, relishing in the friendships of her Vino family.  She had also worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Kinnic Health and Rehab in River Falls.

Tayler loved all animals, especially horses and participated in horse camps throughout her childhood.  She was active in band, playing the trumpet in middle school and high school.  Tayler had a gracious heart for others.   One of the places Tayler loved to visit was Lac du Flambeau Indian Reservation and recreated Ojibwe village named “Waswagoning”. There Tayler learned about Ojibwe history, culture, and ways of living. With that opportunity, she made many close friends, and the experience resonated very deeply with her.

Most important to Tayler was her family and friends.  Her heart was happiest when she was with her family, hanging out with her friends, and spending time with the love of her life, Dalton Ford.  Together Tayler and Dalton shared in camping, hiking, car club and traveling adventures.  They also were “foodies” and loved cooking and trying new restaurants and different foods together.

Tayler will forever remain in the hearts of her parents, Brandon and Kristen Garza; siblings, Jake, Brody and Presley Garza; grandfather, Jesse Garza Sr.; grandmother, Linda (Jeff) Garza Kehren; uncles, Rick (Tenille) Barstow and Jesse Jr. (Kate) Garza; aunt, Lisa (Rob) O’Neill; along with many cousins and countless friends.

Tayler passed away along with her boyfriend, Dalton Ford; and was preceded in death by her grandparents, Frederick Sr. and Sandra Barstow.

A Visitation for Tayler and Dalton (masks and social distancing required) will take place 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM Sunday, April 11, 2021 at the Prescott High School, 1010 Dexter St.  A Funeral Service will follow at 1:00 PM Sunday at the High School, with Pastor Steve Meyer officiating.  A reception will immediately follow at the Old Ptacek’s Event Center in Prescott.  In honoring Tayler, memorials may be directed to the Prescott High School – Lac du Flambeau Scholarship.

Funeral services are entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of Prescott (715) 262-5404.  www.oconnellfuneralservices.com

  • Kris, Brandon, and family, I just heard the awful news about your beautiful daughter!!! Shocked and heartbreaking to say the least. Hold all the precious memories close to your heart. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you. I am here for you if you need anything. Love and miss you guys! 💔🙏

  • Tayler – I will always have the sweetest memories talking with you at the Vino In The Valley Bar. I was buzzing around seeing if the music
was too loud or not loud enough. There you were with the sweetest
calming smile saying to me ” I never hear anything wrong with
you guys “. Tayler you made me feel so happy every time we talked.
You are so much more than a Beautiful Lady behind the Vino Bar-
You truly are someone who lights up the room with your smile.
Always polite and kind. I will miss your smile and energy. I feel that I’m the lucky one to have met you.

  • Kristen and Brandon-
It has been years since we’ve seen each other when I worked at the clinic. I was just thinking about you Kristen and your mom a couple weeks ago and now I read this horrible news. My heart breaks for you and your family. I remember when you would bring Tayler into the clinic. She was such a sweet and so cute young lady. Doesn’t feel like it was that long ago. I could never imagine what you are going through. I hope you can find some peace knowing she is with your parents again and they will make sure she is okay. She’s also with the Love of her life. The pain will never go away but I pray you can soon find some sort of peace with it. My heart, prayers and Love are being sent to you!!
    Always ❤️
Brandi (front desk at Dr B’s office 😉)

  • Tayler,
From the first time I met you I saw a special light in you! You were so captivating with your beauty and kindness and it just radiated. We only knew each other for a short time but boy, was it a great time. I’m gonna miss you and our girl talks. You were the first friend I had out here that wasn’t one of the guys. Usually when your boyfriends friend has a gf and you meet them it feels like a forced friendship, but it was nothing of that sort, it was a blessing, which is why I then asked you to be my bridesmaid, and you will still be apart of it somehow, Tay, me and Max will make sure of it 💜 Soo much love!
