Kristie Lynn Wilkens, age 51, of Ellsworth, WI, passed away August 12, 2021 at Rochester Mayo Clinic Hospital.  Along with her twin sister, Kristie was born October 3, 1969 in St. Paul, MN to David and Mary (Harris) Wyandt.  She graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis, with the Class of 1988.  Kristie was united in marriage to the love of her life, Jeffrey Allen Wilkens on July 9, 1993 in Ellsworth.  Their marriage was blessed with four children, Derek, Matthew, Andrew and Mary.

Kristie was a devoted wife and mother and was especially proud of her loving husband, Jeff and each one of her children. Together, they lovingly raised their children, homeschooling them, always encouraging them and supporting them in 4-H while growing up.  Kristie’s love for her family was evident in everything she did and she was a strong defender of her children. She loved capturing special moments with photos and cherished every minute spent with her family.  She had a special bond with her twin sister, Kellie.  With a great sense of humor, they both delighted in playing jokes and switching their identities on others.

Kristie had a special place in her heart for animals.  She especially loved her horses and dogs.  She was happiest when horseback riding and training her horses.  Enjoying the beauty around her, Kristie was fond of being on the water kayaking.  She also enjoyed her time crafting, redecorating and remodeling her home and others.

Not only did Kristie raise a beautiful family, she also spent time working for the Ellsworth School District, Maple Leaf Orchard in Spring Valley and most recently the Ellsworth Creamery.  Kristie loved working at the Creamery and took great pride in making delicious fudge.  She also treasured the friendships gained from her time working there.

Kristie will remain in the hearts of her loving husband, Jeff; sons, Derek Wilkens, Matthew (Victoria) Wilkens and Andrew Wilkens; daughter, Mary Wilkens; twin sister, Kelly Wyandt; brother, Kurt (Brittany) Wyandt; parents-in-law, Harold and Debbie Wilkens;  brother-in-law, Troy Wilkens; sister-in-law, Shelly (Brock) Shulte; special aunts, Connie and Peggy; dear friend, Pam Knutson and her family; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She was preceded in death by her infant son, Christopher and her parents, David and Mary Wyandt.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held 4:00 – 7:00 PM Monday, August 16, 2021 at the O’Connell-Benedict Funeral Home, 130 N Grant St., Ellsworth, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at church.  A Memorial Service will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Bethel Covenant Church, W8405 County Rd KK, Ellsworth, with Rev. Todd Spieker officiating.  A time of fellowship will follow at the church.

Services are entrusted to the O’Connell-Benedict Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth (715) 273-4421.
