Kenneth William “Kenny” Blodgett, age 83 of Maiden Rock died unexpectedly October 13, 2021 at his residence of a sudden cardiac arrest. Kenny was born on April 27, 1938 in Trimbelle Township; the son of Albert and Joyce (Whipple) Blodgett. He was raised in rural Ellsworth where he attended school. On June 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Joan Frances Cook at the English Lutheran Church in Ellsworth. This union would be blessed with three children.

As a young man, he worked in South Saint Paul in packaging construction. After a few years, he would find employment in Red Wing where he worked for Conwed, which would eventually become USG Interiors. He would work his way through the ranks before retiring as foreman in the mid-1990s. With his new downtime, he furthered his passion in woodworking. If you were fortunate enough, you may have received one of his lawn ornaments keepsakes. He also enjoyed making wood toys for family and friends. He loved the outdoors and taking care of his acreage and the family farm which they purchased in Maiden Rock in 1984. He loved the fall deer hunts, searching for the perfect agate, and making sure his lawn looked pristine! He has buckets of agates and took a lot of pleasure in creating special jewelry treasures. Earlier in life he enjoyed trout fishing on local streams and more recently appreciating when he was gifted some fresh trout by his son. Later in life, he had great memories of Joan and his travels to the Black Hills or Montana sightseeing.

Kenny will forever be in the hearts of his wife Joan; children Scott (Tom) Blodgett, Waylon (Kelly) Blodgett, Corey (Ashley) Blodgett, grandchildren Amber (Cole) Comer, Zachary, Sadie, Katie, Brady, Wyatt, Brock; great grandchild Davina; Sister Patsy (Cliff) Hudson; sister-in-laws Yvonne Blodgett, Janis Blodgett; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his siblings Alberta Gibbs, Marlin (Betty) Blodgett, Don Blodgett, Ron Blodgett, Georgia Gjorvad, Tracy (Wanda) Blodgett, Tim Blodgett, LaVern Blodgett, and Leland Blodgett.

  • My dearest Uncle:

You will always be remembered as a fun-loving, quick-witted, poet, artist, and down right good ole boy, who gives an amazing hug. There was rarely a picnic or family get together that you didn’t do or say something that sent a roar of laughter through the crowd. I am so thankful for the time we all had with you. I am a better person today because of your hard advice as a late teen. Thanks for teaching me how to be a “pretty good darn” horse shoe player. Tell Jesus to look out because you got your voice back, and Heaven won’t be same after they get a load of your humor. I hate that I don’t get to see you again until I meet Him too. We are all going to miss you so much! My heart swells with thoughts of you…

    Goodbye Uncle Kenny
    Loads of love and hugs,
    Andy
