Daniel Sarnstrom, age 63 of Ellsworth died unexpectedly, January 2nd, 2022 at his residence. Daniel was born on March 25, 1958 in Red Wing MN; the son of Kenneth and Frances (Wells) Sarnstrom. He was raised in Ellsworth, but moved up north where he graduated high school from Unity High School. After high school he took a job at Red Wing Shoes in Redwing. He was a proud and dedicated employee of Red Wing Shoes for forty-five years!
On March 26, 2005, he was married to the former Janet Nielsen in Mesa, Arizona. Family was everything to Daniel. He was not only a parent instilling values and morals to his son Curt, but he was his best friend. He so appreciated the outdoors and living in Wisconsin gave him the ultimate pleasure. Deer hunting with the guys, bobber fishing for a bluegill or jigging for a bass, or turkey hunting was always looked forward to. Sundays was his day to relax with Janet and cheer on his favorite Green and Gold to victory. He loved to make you to smile; especially if you were feeling down. He put others first and himself last. Daniel will forever be remembered by his son Curt (Brittany) Sarnstrom; wife Janet; step children Chad Karlstad (Anna Ehrlicher), Brian (Erin) Karlstad, Christine Karlstad, Jennifer Karlstad; siblings Kenneth Jr. (Judy) Sarnstrom, Audrey (Douglas) Schulte, Arlene (Arne) Rosener, Betty (Joseph) Linder, Judea (Gary) Myers, Ronald (Tracey) Sarnstrom; many nieces and nephews; step grandchildren; and his extended Red Wing Shoe family. He is preceded in death by his parents; infant son Derrek; siblings Gloria Jean (La Vern) Johnson, and Geraldine (Gary) Gilbertson.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m., Sunday, May 15th at Colvill Park, 507 Nymphara Lane, Red Wing, MN. Please hold Curt, Janet, and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of such a special part of their family. Memorial and cremations services have been entrusted to the O’Connell Family Funeral Home of Ellsworth.
We were fortunate to know Dan.
Most kind person.
While he and Janet camped at DN, we watched how Dan first thing arriving had his lawn mower out to mow the large lot his camper sat on. Meticulous and it showed.
Missed his being at DN and miss him now
Rest in peace good man, JerMary
